The Cuba Intensive Program is offered every year, leaving the last week in April and returning first week in May. Through seminars, lectures and other activities, students will be introduced to Cuban society and culture. The program runs over a six week period with four weeks of briefing and debriefing sessions in Halifax and full two weeks in Havana with FLACSO at the University of Havana. In Cuba, there will be daily lectures translated simultaneously into English at the University of Havana and field visits to sites in and around Havana. Participants will be required to keep a daily journal, conduct an interview with a Cuban citizen, and prepare and present a research paper on an approved topic related to Cuban development.
Spanish isn't necessary, and this is a great opportunity to satisfy an elective for students programmes other than IDS or Spanish.
If you want to get a full credit by spending two weeks in sunny, beautiful Cuba, please check the Cuba Program and how to apply. The application deadline is at the end of November.
